It’s Give-Away Time!

In honor of having over 200 followers and to show my appreciation, I’m having a give-away!  That’s a lot of new great friends I like sharing my kitchen corner with and then visiting your wonderful blogs to learn about your corner of the world in return.

Since my blog is about cooking and I live in the Chicago area, the give-away is a Chicago cookbook.  The title is “Street Food Chicago” by Chef Mike Baruch.  The cookbook showcases the most popular recipes of the best local foods Chicago has to offer.  It’s filled with recipes drawing from its many ethnic groups and contains some interesting Chicago culinary history also.

So to celebrate all you wonderful people out there, here are the simple rules:

·        The contest is open to everyone.

·        You must be a follower or sign up to become a follower of my blog.

·        Leave a comment on this post and tell me what your favorite food is.

That’s easy enough, isn’t it?

The contest ends on Tuesday, July 27th at midnight CDT and the drawing will be done using the random number generator on Wednesday, July 28th.

I thank you all so much for reading, commenting and following my blog!  You are the best!!!

Good luck!

The recipe you are looking for...

Baked Potatoes with Yogurt and Sour Cream - Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics

Ingredients

•4 Idaho russet baking potatoes (I made 3.)

•1/2 cup yogurt ( I put a little more sour cream in than yogurt. I didn't know what the yogurt would do to the sour cream. It turned out that it balanced the flavors beautifully. It added a tangy taste.

•1/2 cup sour cream

•2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives, plus extra for garnish

•Kosher salt and black pepper

Method:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Wash the potatoes and place them directly on the oven baking rack. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes, until very tender when pierced with a skewer.

Meanwhile, combine the yogurt, sour cream, chives, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper and place in a serving bowl. Garnish with extra chives. Chill.

When the potatoes are done, cut them down the middle and squeeze both ends. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and serve the hot baked potatoes with the cold chive dressing.

Congrats on hitting 200 on your followers. You have one more now :-) Very nice of you to offer that great book.

You should know how hard it is to choose ONE food as a favorite. My husband says I have a bread fetish, so probably any kind of bread. Or Pizza..but its the crust that really floats my boat so back to bread! lol

Happy 200! So enjoy visiting here. The book looks great, and I am of course a follower. Hard to pick a favorite food, but will go with ice cream and pizza is a close second.

Hi Pam! The book sounds very interesting and it's nice of you to be having a give-away.

I am already a follower. My favorite food depends on what my mood is. I have a recipe from "The Frugal Gourmet" (anyone remember him?) from years ago, that are for Chicago-Style Italian Beef Sandwiches (can't remember the exact name) that is one of my favorite things to make when I have company over.

Hi Pam,
Great give-away.Congrats on 253 followers and its only 7 days later.I fear I may never get that many. Fav food??? Can I say all/everything? No that's not fair is it? OK then, lobster, even though now I can't get it fresh like I did in Florida :( Too far from the coast in NC and everything is flash frozen.
